What is Flemington Barber?

Flemington Barber provides 7 premium grooming services and expert tips, ensuring you achieve the perfect look with easy online booking.

How do I book a haircut with Matthew Paul in Flemington?

The fastest way is online — pick your service, choose a time, and you're locked in with instant confirmation. You can also call or text +19083298250. And if you prefer the old-fashioned way, walk-ins are always welcome at Hairlines Barbershop Tuesday through Friday.

Do you take walk-ins, or do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are always welcome — no appointment required. That said, mornings fill up fast, so booking ahead online is the best way to avoid a wait. If you're walking in, weekday early hours are typically the quietest.

How far ahead should I book?

For a specific time — especially an early slot or right after work — booking a day or two ahead is the safe move. Same-day openings do come up, so it's always worth checking the calendar, which shows Matthew's live availability rather than an approximation.

Do I pay when I book online?

No. Booking online just holds your chair — you pay at the shop once your cut is finished. Cash and major cards are both welcome.

What happens if I'm running late?

Call or text Matthew on +19083298250 as soon as you know you're behind. If he can still fit your cut in without rushing the next client, he will. If the chair has already moved on, he'll find you the next time that works — a quick heads-up always beats an anxious drive.

What's your cancellation policy?

Life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, give as much notice as you can — ideally 24 hours — so another local can take the slot. You can reschedule anytime online or by calling +19083298250.

What haircut styles does Matthew offer?

Classic scissor cuts, tapers, buzz cuts, skin fades (low, mid, and high), drop fades, line-ups and edge-ups, beard shaping, and traditional shaves. Bring a reference photo and Matthew will tell you straight whether it suits your hair type — or how to adapt it to look best on you.

What's the difference between a taper and a fade?

A taper only takes the sides and neckline short while leaving the length above it alone — clean, subtle and business-friendly. A fade blends all the way down to skin or a very short length and climbs higher up the head, which is why barbers talk about low, mid and high fades.

Skin fade or regular fade — which should I get?

A skin fade goes down to bare skin for the sharpest contrast; a regular fade stops at a short clipper length, so it grows out softer and holds its shape a little longer. If you get cut every two weeks, a skin fade always looks fresh. If you stretch to a month, Matthew will tell you honestly which fade wears better on your growth.

Can you copy a photo I bring in?

Yes — bring it. Matthew breaks the photo down: fade height, length on top, how the front is styled. Then he adapts it to your hair type, growth pattern and face shape, so it looks right on you rather than just on the model.

Do you do beard trims and hot-towel straight razor shaves?

Both. A beard trim and shape-up — cheek line, neckline, mustache and goatee cleanup — is $8. A fade-to-beard blend is part of the $25 haircut-and-beard service, and a traditional hot-towel straight-razor shave with hot lather and a cool towel finish is $10.

How often should I book to keep a cut sharp?

Most clients come back every three to four weeks. Tight fades and line-ups start showing growth at about two weeks, so if you like your edges crisp, book every two to three weeks. Longer scissor cuts comfortably last four to six.

How long does a haircut take?

Most haircuts take about 30 minutes. A haircut with a beard trim is closer to 45 minutes, and a line-up or beard trim alone is a quick 15–20 minutes. Booking online shows the time reserved for each service so you can plan your visit.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Absolutely. Matthew welcomes kids and students, with a patient, friendly approach and the same precision he gives every adult. Many of his regulars first sat in a chair as children — some now bring their own kids.

How much is a haircut?

A men's haircut is just $20, and new clients get their first cut for $10 — 50% off. A skin fade is $25, a line-up is $12, and a buzz cut is $15. A haircut with a beard trim is $25, a beard trim alone is $8, and a shave is $10. Simple posted prices, no surprises.

Is it more expensive to add a beard trim?

A haircut with beard shaping is $25, so adding the beard to a $20 cut costs $5 more — the most popular way regulars book. A beard trim on its own is $8.

Is there a discount for new clients?

Yes — new clients get 50% off their first haircut, so a $20 cut becomes just $10. It's the simplest way to see if Matthew is the right fit. One visit is usually all it takes to make you a regular.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash and major cards are both welcome. When you book online, you can manage your appointment, get reminders, and reschedule easily. Tips are always appreciated and go straight to your barber.

Where exactly are you located?

Matthew cuts at Hairlines Barbershop, 170 NJ-31, Suite 4, Flemington, NJ 08822 — right on Route 31, minutes from the Flemington Circle and the historic downtown, across from the Subaru dealership. Free parking is available right on site.

Where do I park, and how do I get there from downtown Flemington?

Free parking sits right in front of the suite — no meters, and no circling downtown for a spot. From the historic downtown or the Flemington Circle it's a short run up Route 31, and the shop sits across from the Subaru dealership, so it's easy to spot from the road.

Which towns do clients drive in from?

Matthew cuts for clients from Flemington and Raritan Township, plus Readington, Clinton, Ringoes, Lambertville, Three Bridges, Annandale, High Bridge and the rest of Hunterdon County. Plenty of regulars are one town over and say the drive is worth it.

What are Matthew's hours?

Matthew is in the chair Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Thursday and Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. He's out Saturday through Monday. Booking online shows his live availability, so you always see the exact times he can take you.
