Hairlines Barbershop isn't just located in Flemington — it's part of the town's fabric. For nearly a century, this shop has been where the community gets sharp, and Matthew Paul now carries that legacy in his hands.
The Timeline
1930s
The barbershop that would become Hairlines opens its doors in downtown Flemington, on the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Main Street, serving farmers, merchants, and the families who built Hunterdon County.
1980s
New York-trained and NJ-licensed master barber Paul Montera begins cutting hair in Flemington — and hasn't stopped in over 40 years. He works at Hairlines for two decades before purchasing the shop in 2001.
Today
Paul's son Matthew — Mattie P — joins the shop as the fourth generation of the family to barber. The grandsons of Paul's first clients now sit in the chair, and a new generation keeps the tradition sharp.
